ABOUT GALEANO

Galeano is an Afro-Latin, roots rock band formed by Grammy® Award-Winner and two time nominee, José Galeano, essential member, songwriter, percussionist and front man of Grupo Fantasma.

While growing up in Nicaragua, José was influenced by the music of his uncle “Chepito” Areas, percussionist and timbale player for Santana and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.

José began performing at the age of six, and has since had the honor of traveling across the globe with musical legends such as Prince, Sheila E. Larry Harlow and Maceo Parker.  He has performed at world-renowned festivals like Austin City Limits Festival, Bonnaroo, North Sea Jazz Festival and the Montreal Jazz Festival.

To describe Galeano without first mentioning rhythm would not give an accurate description of the music, as rhythm is the prime mover throughout.

Galeano’s rhythmic drive and energy make it impossible for audiences not to dance and move to the unique blend of Afro-Latin Roots Rock, that transcends stylistic borders while acknowledging the historical significance of the rich musical traditions it rests upon.

Galeano is compelled to grow a sense of community through music and strives to help the audience recognize themselves in each other by creating a melting of styles.

No walls, musical or otherwise will be built by this band!
